On the Consciousness of Animals

Here is the monkey (chimp) mentioned in class. For those interested in how well (or poorly) we understand the consciousness of animals.
It seems a bit too ego-based to believe what most of us believe about our intellect compared to the intellect of the animal kingdom. We are always finding out new things that make the distance between "us" and "them" much smaller. A couple years ago it was realized that elephants can recognize themselves in mirrors and use them adequately for hygiene, now this!
